As director of strategic communications for IU Bloomington, Nicole Wilkins helps develop and oversee the strategic communications projects for the news and media team and helps coordinate media coverage and projects for the newsroom.
Nicole brings more than 15 years of experience in media and public relations to this role, having recently run her own marketing firm, 260media, as well as served as chief communications officer for the regional IU/Purdue campus of IPFW in Fort Wayne.
Wilkins is a native of Southern California and received a degree in English from the University of California-Irvine, where she also worked in marketing and communications. During her time there, she coordinated major media events for the university for such distinguished guests as the Dalai Lama, while interfacing with national and international journalists. She also has worked for such organizations as Fox Television Studios in Beverly Hills, California; Zimmer in Warsaw, Indiana; and the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce in Fort Wayne.
When she’s not at work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband (and proud IU Bloomington graduate) Chris and their three beautiful children, Gavin, Sydney, and Pierce. Nicole enjoys traveling the globe and crossing off items on her bucket list, most recently attending the Kentucky Derby and the Indy 500. In addition to her travels and exploring her newly adopted Btown home, Nicole can be found cheering on her kids at their swim meets, rooting for the Hoosiers at a football or basketball game, and consuming all her pop culture book, movie, and TV faves.
