Mary supervises the production of academic bulletins for the university and writes and edits a variety of print and web publications, from marketing pieces to technical reports.

Before joining the IU Communications team, Mary did freelance writing, editing, and proofreading for a wide range of clients, including many IU schools and departments. She was technical editor for the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management for several years, and has edited two law textbooks. She has also worked as a communications and development assistant at the IU School of Nursing at IUPUI, as a scientific editor and publications assistant at Louisiana State University, and as a publicity writer for the Sunbeam Corporation.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, and has studied graduate linguistics and grammar at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans.

Mary has expertise in WCMS content and a special interest in words, syntax, and vegetables. She loves to diagram sentences and weed her ever-evolving gardens.
