Before the ink dried on her B.S. in Computer Information Systems from the Kelley School of Business, Malinda realized she would rather write about technology than build it. Consequently, she has spent the majority of her career handling technical documentation, reports, and grant proposals. After working for University Information Technology Services for literally half her life, Malinda joined IU Communications as a content specialist in 2013. She relishes untangling the threads of language to tell a good story.

Malinda started telling stories when she was three, making up such elaborate, riveting tales as the Bay City Rollers’ drummer driving a car upside-down and crashing it into a garbage truck. Each November she participates in National Novel Writing Month, during which she spends 30 days writing a 50,000-word novel. When she’s not writing, Malinda can usually be found enjoying the great outdoors, reading, cooking tasty meals with her husband, or working on her current pet project—building a dollhouse.

I really enjoy having the opportunity to help different areas of the university tell their stories. It’s eye-opening to be able to step back and look at all the exciting things IU is doing.
