Kim Hannel

News Editor

IU Communications Indianapolis
340 W. Michigan Street

Indianapolis, IN 46202

Kim edits news releases for IUPUI, the regional campuses, and the IURTC as well as internal and external newsletters. She bleeds cream and crimson twice over: she got her undergrad degree from the College of Arts and Sciences in Bloomington and her master’s on the IUPUI campus.

Before coming to IU, Kim spent nearly 15 years as managing editor at Indianapolis Monthly magazine. Her career before that included a stint as a marketing communications manager for the Indiana Department of Commerce and several years as a book editor. A copy editor by nature, she often has to refrain from calling businesses to correct errors on signage, marketing materials, and the like.

When not attending one of their boys’ sporting events around the state and beyond, Kim and her husband enjoy spending free time at Lake Lemon with their giant Labradoodle or cheering for IU teams with their cats.

I get phone calls all the time to settle grammar disputes. Lawyers are the worst!
