Amanda joined the Creative Services team in 2017. She loves the challenging, ever-changing role of design for IU Communications. She has a passion for bringing together visuals and information in simple, intuitive yet creative ways.
Starting her career in journalism, Amanda joined the Indianapolis Star and honed her skills for deadline-driven design work. From there she worked as an art director at Sport Graphics, working with the NCAA and other clients on large-scale signage, décor, and event staging. Before joining IU Communications, Amanda was creative lead for Angie’s List marketing and publications.
Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in photojournalism at the University of Missouri. She then went on to obtain her master of arts in journalism design at Ball State University.
As a resident of downtown Indianapolis, Amanda loves to walk on the Cultural Trail, stop in at the Central Library, see what new buildings are being constructed, or check out a new restaurant. She lives in a nearly 100-year-old building converted to condos, where she serves on the homeowners association board. She’s inspired by the architectural details of the neighborhoods surrounding downtown and appreciates the complexity of urban planning. Most days you’ll find her reading a book during a lunchtime walk.
