Kevin is the news and media specialist for science at Indiana University Communications, where he helps connect people to information about IU’s latest discoveries in areas such as astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, mathematics, computer science, and informatics.
Before joining IU Communications, he served as editor of the IU School of Medicine’s weekly newsletter and as the communications coordinator for the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. A native of Western New York, he previously worked as a member of the communications office at the University at Buffalo—the school where he earned a master’s in English—and wrote for a wide range of university publications, including those covering research and creative activity. He’s also a former newspaper reporter and occasional freelance magazine writer for publications in Indiana and Western New York, for which he’s written on topics as varied as medicine and historic architecture.
When he’s not translating science-speak to AP style, Kevin enjoys devouring books, magazines, and podcasts; exploring new shops and restaurants; going on nature walks; and watching the Science channel. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Emily, and cat, Edith.
In addition to a master’s degree, Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in computer science from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
